Two Day international E-Conference on ‘Emerging trends in English Literature & Language’ concludes 
- Pandemic Literature is a chronicle of the tough times faced by humanity: Dr. Dinesh Kumar

News Katta/ Bhandara, 6 Oct: The two-day international E-conference  on ‘Emerging Trends in English Literature & Language’  organised jointly by the Departments of English of Hislop College, Nagpur, J. M. Patel Arts, Commerce & Science College, Bhandara & Smt. Binzani Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur, concluded here. The second day of the Conference began with the paper reading session chaired by Dr. Pranjali Kane. In the First Plenary Session, Dr. Dinesh Kumar, Associate Professor, Department of English, V.G. Vaze College, Mumbai, delivered a talk on ‘ Revisiting Language and Literature in (Post) Pandemic Era : A Health Humanities Perspectives.’

In his talk Dr. Dinesh Kumar Nair discussed how the pandemic has made us think and re-orient our perspective towards, among other things, our life, our medical care and our earth.  He focused on how literature can and is being used as a part of treatment in the pandemic times. Dr. Nair introduced the delegates to some of the prominent books dealing with the different aspects of the unprecedented times. He likened pandemic literature to the chronicle of the terrible times faced by humanity around the world. The session was chaired by Dr. Jyoti Patil, Principal, Renuka Mahavidyalaya, Nagpur.

In the Second Plenary Session, Dr. Mustajeeb Khan, Professor, Department of English, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad, spoke on ‘Re-reading Drama & Theatre’. He highlighted how the pandemic has impacted Theatre. He also talked about the threat to drama from OTT platforms. Re-reading of the drama is important to restore the relevance and value of the dramatic art; there would be a paradigm shift in the writing of drama, he added. He expressed his concern at the loss of indigenous elements in rural theatre. The session was chaired by Dr. Ruta Dharmadikari, Head, Department of English, L.A.D.
